I vividly remember watching this when I was 11. I was rooting for Pit.

A better scenario would have been Bonds throwing out Sid Bream at home, sending the game to extra innings.. Instead of that lame ass wide throw that Spanky had to reach for, then unable to tag the lead-footed Bream in time..

It was THIS game, as a 12yo, that I decided that I wanted to play baseball.

Wait - you didn't even mention that Sid Bream could barely even run. And that moment waiting for the home plate ump's call When Sid Slid.... you missed some of the greatest drama ever from one of the greatest endings of a game ever.

Schilling’s performance, the glove hit by a-rod, the rioting in yankee stadium, the nypd coming on field, and the tight finish to push it to game 7 feels like a great episode waiting to happen!

I really was hoping you would have added what happened between Andy Van Slyke (the center fielder) and Bonds (left field) just before Cabrera got his game-winning hit.

According to an interview with Van Slyke back around 2011, I believe, he told Bonds to shift a little bit in his direction because he believed Cabrera would hit it in that direction. Bonds, to be very euphemistic, made a hand signal to Van Slyke he he wasn't going to move, and Van Slyke basically said to himself, "Fine, stay there." The next pitch, Cabrera hit the ball almost right to where Van Slyke wanted Bonds to move to.

If Bonds and his fat ego had actually listened to Van Slyke, it is exceedingly hard to believe that Bream would have scored the winning run at that time. Best-case scenario is that the game is tied 2-2 and Otis Nixon would have been up. If the Pirates get out of that inning in a tie situation, Ron Gant likely would have had to move to second base in the top of the 10th inning. That would have been very interesting...

Now, to my knowledge, there is no video footage of this taking place between Bonds and Van Slyke. For all I know, it could be a fake story. But the reason I think this is a true story is because,

                                                                                            1) Bonds has, to my knowledge, never responded to this charge by Van Slyke (maybe he has?)
                                                                                            2) I have never heard a Pirates' fan say anything about Van Slyke but that he is a pretty class act, and
                                                                                            3) Bonds thinks so highly of himself and has such a swelled head, there isn't enough cloth in the world to make a turban that would fit it. Why, in his mind, should he listen to a lowly center fielder like Van Slyke? He's Barry Bonds, after all!

Maybe it never happened, but if it did, I really feel for the Pirates and their fans. Remove a little bit of ego, and maybe, just maybe, the Pirates go to the Series that year.
